Blog 5 - Choice #2

Many people would think living without a Feed would be awful but I think it was one of the best decisions I have made, despite not being given a job I deserved. I experienced being mistreated and not given certain opportunities but in reality if those are the people hiring me I would rather not work for them. Today as I walk through society I see how corrupted the people around me have become because of their feeds. They have been raised with the Feed in their head since the day they have been born. All they hear is all the great things the Feed can do for them but they've never experienced what they could do without the Feed. It is a shame what the Feed is doing to the people around me without them even realizing it. The language I now teach is considered dead and now all I hear is unit this unit that, meg this and meg that. People no longer know how to express themselves in words and think for themselves. Nobody reads or writes anymore it's all m-chatting and slowly but surely it'll all be dead. They have been raised with a blanket over their eyes and never given the opportunity to think or act how they want. Everything is supplied to them through the Feed hiding all the terrible things it actually does. I gave into the silliness and allowed my daughter to get a Feed and it ended with losing her. However, nobody will focus on incidents like this because the Feed has taken over their lives. Society is slowly dying just like the language and I'm glad I'm not dying with it. I'm one of the few without a Feed but one of the few that is experiencing what life is. For these reasons I am glad I don't have a Feed and just wish I would have never allowed my daughter to get one either.

  1. I could see Violet's father being like this, except really torn apart at the loss of his daughter. I think he would see people wasting away and not even realizing it due to their reliance on the feed. The feed takes away all outlets of self expression we enjoy today, such as art, reading, and music. The feed takes these things that are supposed to be for our self enjoyment and makes them into something corporate that they can profit on. It is true what Violet says in the book about people being raised for feed. I think her father would have completely agreed with her statement had he heard it.

  2. They are so caught up with there feed that they aren't noticing that it's destroying them and the world around them. Outside of their bubble of a home the sky is peeling..that's not too safe. They are making the feed out to be this amazing thing when in reality it's the worse thing ever. I agree with Carson though I think Violets father would be more upset about losing her, but at the same time as you have showed glad that he himself didn't get the feed and noticing all the horrible things happening.

  3. I agree with all of you. The feed is destroying everything. As you can see in my advertisements of what would be in the feed, could you imagine me being very smart or even knowing anything but what my advertisements are telling and showing me. It would be a disaster. And also like Brittany and Carson said, I do believe Violets father would be more upset if he lost her.

  4. I think that your opinion on violet's father is quite correct. I believe he would be exactly the way that you depict him. The feed really is destroying everything, it really is destroying people also. Violet's dad did not show much feeling, if he was not consumed by the everything of that time period he would have acted a lot different.
