Blog 8- Woops Forgot!

I really enjoyed the book Hunger Games. I liked how detailed and suspensful the book was, it made it much easier to read. After reading this book I though it working "in conversation" with 1984 because the capitol controlled the districts just like Big Brother controlled the town. It also worked well with the lottery because what seems like an outrageous event gets carried out each year but nobody tries to stop it. The people in Hunger games probably felt very similar to those in 1984 as well as the lottery. I think they felt helpless. Since these people are outnumbered or over powered they are unable to change something like whether they live or die. Someone besides themselves can decide if their life is ready to come to an end or not. I definately found myself responding to Katniss, Peeta, Rue, Katniss's little sister, and Gale. This book really made you connect with the characters each in a unique way.

This is an extremely weird link for me to put on here but I really had trouble finding one. This link is of a vulture circling its prey. I selected this because I feel like the gamemakers were like vultures just circling waiting for someone in the games to die. Vultures also fly around looking for "trouble" or animals dying. The game makers look for trouble as well and even started  trouble if there wasn't any occuring by itself. In the book it felt like Katniss was they prey and at a huge disadvantage at the beginning and the people watching were the vultures.

  1. I like how you compare the gamemakers to vultures. They kind of are like them, they just sit around waiting for another person to die and they dive down to take them away. Or they wait around while the person is slowly dying, and it's like nothing is going on wrong with it. And like you said when things don't go as planed they make something happen so it can become interesting again. Also to bring the tributes together to fight each other..it's all for the "vultures" fun.

  2. I like your video clip and found a way to connect it to the game makers. They are ugly and hideous people when it comes to morals. Same with vultures; they do not care what they do so long as they get food to eat. The capitol residents by and large are vultures as they scavenge and survive by exploiting the outlying districts. I also liked all the connections you made to the other texts.

  3. Great connections to all of the other texts. But like you all said, they are like vultures. I feel they just sit around and wait till someone has died for them to go down and get the people. They don't want to get hurt so they sit around and wait till something happens. But when the games got boring and no one was being rushed to do something they made sure to change something so the action picked up. They wanted to keep it entertaining and interesting so to do so, they would change things up every now and then.

  4. You definitely made some great connections between all of the texts. Your video clip was very good. It made it easy to make connections.I agree that the capital people are vultures, all they care about is being entertaining to the people, its like the vultures and their eating habits, all they care about is the food in their bellies they don't care what it takes to get food in there.
